Sun, sea, Aikido and gradings…

We had a lovely two day summer course at Downderry last weekend.

Aside from it being amazing to be back on the mat for a course- our first for several years, there where a few other surprises.
Sensei Stuart briefly popped in unannounced and awarded Sensei Jeremy his 5th Dan. Congratulations to him! It was good to see Sensei Stuart in good spirits!

There were other gradings during the weekend- most notably father and son, Anton and Hugo both graded 1st Dan. Well done to both of them. Ian also graded blue, and another family duo, this time father and daughter- Mark and Mary graded yellow. Well done to you all.

These courses are such an amazing opportunity, if you did not manage to attend this one, please try and come along to the next one. At this point it is likely to be Sunday the 6th November at Liskeard though this will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks and a post will be made to let you know.

Thanks to Sensei Jeremy for teaching the weekend.

Beginners 4 week Course, Liskeard.

Sensei Anthony is running a beginners course for 4 weeks through November.

This course will offer a basic introduction to the principles of Ki-Aikido, and mind and body coordination. No previous experience necessary, just wear loose comfortable clothing.

If you are interested please get in touch.

What is Ki-Aikido?

Within us all is a singular point of calm. Here we find we are relaxed, clear and sharp and time seems to expand allowing considered actions to follow. In this state we are strong, resilient and flexible and can allow ourselves to invest fully in our endeavours. This place is our ‘one point’ and the result of finding it is the co-ordination of mind and body.

Ki-Aikido is a fun and compelling way to help us understand and develop the one point through specific practice and dynamic exercise. It can be practised by anyone willing to learn, of any age, size, ability or gender.

Rather than fear, violence and hate we learn calmness, tolerance and respect.
Ki-Aikido is the Art of Peace.
